In control

Hi my loves!  I’d like to share a piece of my mind tonight.  A little bit on my own views! 🙂

Before I made the final decision on becoming a wedding planner, I always knew I wanted to work in the fashion field.  And before wanting to do “something” (it was styling) in the fashion field, I wanted to be a journalist!  No joke, I had a diary growing up and the way I would write to my diary was hilarious!  I would act as if I’m on E! News or something reporting live from my own life.  LOL.  I recently stumbled upon those memories and couldn’t help but get emotional.  I mean… why the hell were we in such a hurry to grow up?  It’s insane how quickly life passes us by and changes.  All the advice my mom gave me when I was younger makes the most sense now, along with the things she would get upset at me for.  Like taking away my cell phone, or not dropping me off at a friends house.  Todays generation of kids teach their parents how to use their cell phones, and UBER it to their friends house.  That’s the difference.  I’m not sure how I would be as a mother, but I know I’d do my best to give my children the taste of the medicine I once had from my mom.  Back to the topic of event planning… it truly is a HUGE passion of mine and always has been!  I do not see my job as a “job.”  Anytime I am working on a project I get butterflies and the adrenaline is rushing through my veins because I can’t wait to come up with fresh new ideas.  Before actually turning it into a job, I would do it for family and friends.  Now, as soon as I meet with a client my imagination goes on a trip to lalaland.  A never ending one to be exact.  I am constantly on a mission to make sure each detail I’m working on is PERFECT.  Here is where my love for fashion, planning and writing all meet.  I am always inspired by trends and timeless fashion even when working on planning events.  I like to marry the two.  Hence where the name STYLE MY SOIRÉE came from.

soi·rée pronounced swäˈrā/

Without hesitation, I know that this is only the beginning of my future plans.  If you’re here reading my blog, I strongly encourage you to have the same outlook on your own plans.  I am content knowing that I get to create for so many lovely individuals and do what I love.  And blog!  Blessed are those who pursue their dreams and start from rock bottom. (even if it’s with delay)  Starting from the bottom is what will keep your drive intact because you’re not at the TOP yet.  I know I am for sure not at the top or no where near.  Which is why I strive to be better on a daily.  The hunger to grow will always keep you working!  Women are the ones running the world these days.  Don’t let any man tell you other wise.  And don’t let any woman tell you other wise either.  There are so many negative nancys out there it truly baffles my mind how bitter some are.  Those who aren’t doing anything with their own lives and dreams always have the most negative things to say about those even TRYING to do something.  Moral of the story, FORGET the negative.  Surround yourself with the positive and do YOU!

P.S. I have so many new projects in the works for my blog!  I will share them shortly!

XOXO,

Style-Maven
